Why an Electric bike & what they can do in a nut shell
In recent years, electric motor and battery technology has advanced tremendously.
Today's bikes have clear advantages over what has been on the market in the past.
Some simple answers to the questions we get asked the most
Twist & go: Twist the handle grip & travel at a max of 15mph for around 15Km without pedalling for off road use.
Pedal assist: Pedal the bike & the motor will automatically start to work & take the effort out of cycling so you can go further & tackle hills, maybe go on rides you once avoided, you will get much more distance out of the bike this way, i.e. the more work you do the less the battery has too. You can go as fast as you like, just for longer!
Charging the battery: Plug it into the ESB like your mobile phone with a small charger, again like your phone & you will have a fully charged battery again. It takes 4-6 hours & the charger will switch its self off when the battery is full.
Battery life: A battery will last 400 to 450 charges, look at this like lives the battery has. If you charge your battery once a week on average over the year you have around 5 ½ years of life.

Cost
Common sense tells you the difference an electric bike or vehicle will have over a conventional mode of transport, be it a car or motorbike. An electric bike as a rule of thumb will give you 1000 miles per gallon in money terms.
Pollution Free
If you drive a car the typical 12,000 miles a year, your car annually leaves four and a half metric tons of carbon in its wake. Because electric vehicles run on batteries and do not burn fossil fuels as their main system of propulsion, they provide the opportunity to reduce your personal environmental impact and improve local air quality.

Electric motors are quiet and give you an entirely different feeling when riding. Many petrol or diesel vehicles are louder than lawn-mowers. Quiet electric vehicles seem to glide down the road with ease and are welcomed.

There's no grease or oil to get to get your hands or clothes dirty. No foul exhaust or petrol & diesel fumes and it never leaks oil. You can safely store an electric vehicle in your home or apartment.

Electric motors cost almost nothing to run. Instead of burning up expensive fossil fuels every trip, electric vehicles are recharged by plugging them into the wall sockets. Given the rising oil prices worldwide, going electric makes good financial sense.
